Париж

По окончании фестиваля мы поехали на один день в Париж и это была наша первая встреча с этим замечательным и знакомым до слез городом. В Париже шел мелкий и пронзительный дождь. Сознание величия этого потрясающего города, абсент и утка в ресторане, Триумфальная арка и Ейфелева башня и песни группы «Руки вверх» в одном из туннелей все то, о чем мечтала и не мечтала я.  Я настояла на том, что бы найти дом в котором жил Модильяни на улице Монпарнас 19 (адрес я помнила по названию одноименного фильма с Жераром Филлипом в роли Модильяни). Притронулась рукой к двери этого дома, это был настоящий восторг. 

Эта поездка не принесла  коммерческого успеха и погасить расходы мы бы не смогли. Бельгийцы и все посещающие эту ярмарку покупали живопись, но покупали известные им имена и для того, что бы начать продаваться там, нужно было бы принимать участие не единожды, а из года в год стараться приучить искушенную европейскую публику к нашему искусству. На это потребовались бы годы и годы и много денег.

Paris

At the end of the festival, we went to Paris for one day and this was our first meeting with this wonderful and tearfully familiar city. In Paris, it was drizzling and piercing. Consciousness of the greatness of this amazing city, absinthe and a duck in a restaurant, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower and the songs of the Hands Up group in one of the tunnels are all that I dreamed and did not dream of. I insisted on finding the house where Modigliani lived on 19 Montparnasse street (I remembered the address by the name of the movie of the same name with Gerard Phillip as Modigliani). She put her hand on the door of this house, it was a real delight.This trip did not bring commercial success and we could not repay the costs. The Belgians and all those attending this fair bought paintings, but bought the names they knew and in order to start selling there, one would have to take part more than once, and from year to year try to accustom the sophisticated European public to our art. It would take years and years and a lot of money.
